Introducing Jah Nissi

jahnissi

A native of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, Ernst Toussaint, known to his fans as Jah Nissi, was born October 12th with a passion to become a professional football player. Met with opposition from his parents however, Ernst would soon discover something within that would propel him towards a new path…music.

The community in which Ernst resided in Haiti, had a church where he was able to harness his passion for music, and develop his skills. During the nineties, his father who was residing in Venezuela, advised Ernst and his younger brother to find someone to teach them to play a musical instrument.

Under the tutelage of Moses Thermitus, a prominent bassist residing in Haiti, Ernst mastered the bass guitar, and his younger brother the lead guitar. A few years later, the brothers formed a group called, “Conquistadores” which means simply, “Conquerors.”

In 1996 his family emigrated and settled in Venezuela, and Ernst decided to continue his musical career in a music school where he learned to play the drums. A few years later, his brother and some friends formed a band called “The Will” which was later changed to “Stars”. Due to internal conflicts, Ernst and his brother along with two other musicians left the band and decided to go their separate ways.

During the months which followed, the brothers formed another group called “Fire of Life”, which succumbed to financial and economical problems. In 2005, Ernst migrated to the United States in an attempt at pursuing his musical career. Disappointments after disappointments ensued, and later forced Ernst to move on to Canada, where he was finally able to see his dream come to fruition.

Influenced by artistes such as the great Bob Marley, Morgan Heritage, Alpha Blondy, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Midnite and Eddy Francois, just to name a few, Jah Nissi has in 2014 released his first roots/reggae album titled, “L’Union”, meaning Unity. An Edit Productions release, Jah Nissi is ready to take his career by the reigns and forge ahead. Lyrically, each track on the album is a fusion of his native French Creole as well as English, over a pulsating reggae bassline.

“I Love You” is the first single from “L’Union’ to hit the airwaves. Jah Nissi, featuring the beautiful sounds of songstress, Blandine Kaniki.

Jah Nissi always keeps the plight of his people at the forefront, and sings to uplift the poor and destitute.

KD C.A.R.E Foundation (walking…no talking)

kd

The KD C.A.R.E Foundation established in May 2014, is an organization created to aid the poverty-stricken residents of Jamaica.

Co-Founders Karen Davis & Davian Lambert, have always been passionate about the plight of the needy and impoverished everywhere. However, instead of talking about the suffering and the lack facing many, they decided to pool their resources and ideas to make a change.

Ms Davis’ humanitarian efforts began years ago as she tirelessly assisted the homeless in New York, before moving on to Florida where she cooked and fed the hungry living under bridges in Miami. Her compassion for the less fortunate led her back to Jamaica from 2004 to 2007 as a missionary, who aided the Westhaven and Blossom Garden Children’s Home in the parish of St James..

Being empathetic to the struggle, Mr Lambert has also been doing his part to assist the needy residents in the parish of St Andrew. Wherever there’s a need, Mr Lambert offers assistance. Whether it’s monetary, clothing, shelter,or food, he willingly does whatever he can, whenever he can.

In May 2014, both Ms Davis and Mr Lambert agreed it was time to take their charitable ambitions to the next level. The KD C.A.R.E Foundation was formed, and plans are being implemented to build and repair homes, provide food, as well as school supplies for those in need across the island.

Currently in New York the supplies are pouring in, and barrels are being packed and made ready for shipment. Persons wishing to donate must understand that no donation is too small. From a penny to a pencil, everything is needed, and any assistance offered will be appreciated.

Dann-I -1/2 Dozen Questions

Reggae artiste Dann-I has been creating waves in the industry with his hit single, “Time Nuh Wait”, and his latest “Uncle Come” is now also a fan favorite.

Yu done know how I do here…I had to ask Dann-I 1/2 Dozen Questions to keep up to date, don’t it?

Dann-I is humble and personable. An artist who is knowledgeable, witty, conscious and extremely talented. Hailing from Spanish Town, Jamaica…this artist has a lot to offer, and fans of the genre has yet another artiste to celebrate.
Mek wi talk to him:

Q. Greetings Dann-I, how are you king?

A.
Greetings Sista. I feel blessed and highly favored. Always giving thanks and praises to The Most High.

Q. How long have you been doing music, and what/who inspired you?

A. I’ve been singing since I discovered my talent from a tender age. All my inspirations come from The Almighty, love, everyday life, music, and Mama Earth and her inhabitants.

Q. Your lyrics are thought provoking. Do you write from your own experiences or from the experiences of others?

A. Most of what I write and sing are personally inspired, or what I see growing up on a daily basis. Mostly it’s my opinion on the truth and realities in life.

Q. Many are familiar with you because of the hit song, “Time Nuh Wait”. Now the big tune “Uncle Come” is causing tongues to wag. The video was shot recently for this track. Tell my readers what has been happening in Dann-I’s career since the year began?

A. Well, it has been a marvelous year so far. I was honored to be awarded the Best New Artiste at the Manchester Awards, as well as grace the Rebel Salute stage where I delivered an energetic and memorable performance. My debut video for the single “Time Nuh Wait”, premiered and surprised everyone by going straight to number one in the first week, and remaining there for two months. I can say I have accomplished a lot thanks to my hard working and enthusiastic management team.

Q.
Sons Of Spoon Music is the label you are on right now, correct? Can we expect an album any time soon?

A. Yes I am officially part of the Sons of Spoon Label family. We’re currently releasing some singles, and the albums are in the pipeline.

Q.
This is a quick ‘1/2 Dozen Questions’, so feel free right here to tell us anything you need us to know. Oh, one last thing. What can we expect from Dann-I for the remainder of 2014?

A. For the rest of 2014, music lovers can expect to be thrilled with some of the best music of this era. Music for the mind body and soul, and music that’s pleasing to the ear. I just want to say let’s keep moving my people. Time waits on no one. A special thank u to Sonny Spoon, Orville, Prof and Geenie Blacks. Very hard working team.

Ishawna a HOT IT UP!

DSR (Downsound Records) a guh hard. Yu here mi? Hard mi seh!
Ok, let me get straight to the point.

I often refer to dancehall artiste Ishawna as the princess at Downsound Records, as she is currently the only female on the roster. I first heard about Ishawna last year, and went in search of her music on YouTube. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. This young lady is repping the dancehall genre quite nicely, while turning heads everywhere she goes.
Big up to Ishawna who is doing her thing and making a name for herself in this male dominated industry. It’s refreshing to see another female artiste who can hold her own without apology. TUN UP! Tun down fi wha?

Here’s a recent tweet from Ishawna: “I will be performing live for the first time at Caribbean Fashion Week this Saturday June 14th, 2014”
This event will be held in Kingston, Jamaica, and I can just imagine the surprises Ishawna has in store for the CFW audience.

The lady seh she ‘need love’…cause she waa ‘relieve stress’
Si the video here…two hot for TV.

She also said: “everybody a guh know seh me an you a (insert expletive right here)”

A Me Unnu A Pree?

shishi

Matthew 23:12 says:
“For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

I get that. I really do, and I totally agree with that scripture above. I am currently partaking of some “Sangsters Rum Cream” while I type this, so who knows what might end up on this page. Since the saying implies that when you’re crazy, drunk or tipsy is when the truth comes out, hey…at least you know I won’t lie.

I am writing this blog not because this is a blog site, but because I have to get some things off my mind and put some people back inna dem place. English cyah too convey what I have to say, so if you can’t understand patois…you will be lost.

I have been doing this PR ting for many years. Yeah man. A long time now. My website: celebrityplus.net used to run the cut back then. All original contents. I never used photos that I didn’t personally take, and I worked hard to make a name for myself. I never rode or tried to ride on my famous brother’ coat tail, although I could have. I made the name Shilo…MUMMA SHILO by working hard and staying true.

I created some things in journalism that others are now imitating. For one thing, I know for a fact that I inspired many of these females to get into the industry. Yes…a me inspire unnu. Unnu can gwaan hate all unnu want but unnu tell mi dat unnu self when y’all just got started. Nuh badda lie…y’all know it’s true. I won’t call names cause unnu nah get no more free promotion from mi.

Let me not even bother reminding anyone about who created the TEAM concept in this music ting. Unnu hear me talk bout that enough. Ask Ky-mani Marley and he will tell yu. I…me…MUMMA…yeah…me same one start this whole team ting in 2007. TEAM KY-MANI was the first team in music.

Remember when people used to go to stage shows and stand there taking pix of artists on stage? My site celebrityplus.net was different. Straight vision. How many times you gonna see an artist on stage with a mic? Mine was the site that captured artists cooking, playing ball, with their children…hanging…vibing. Don’t it? It made others have to look around and switch up the ting. This new page name CELEBRITYPLUSAGAIN. Yeah man. It’s a reminder that Shilo nuh gone nuh whe. Wha some a unnu feel like? Unnu tink mi name Mumma fi nutten?

I saw a ting someone sent to my email, where this little hating follow backa wretch put up har ting and a ask the same things I do. Now mi know that sound petty. Here mi out. This likkle back and belly rat whose life purpose is to TRY outdo me in journalism (wretch can’t even spell), have a site, and word for word the questions she’s asking is the exact ones…word for word now, that I have on my page. (AND MI KNOW SHE A WATCH CAUSE IP ADDRESSES DON’T LIE). And is not her alone either. Nuff a dem likkle fly-by-night so called PR wretches and website admins couldn’t formulate an original thought if dem life depended on it. No one is saying you can’t genuinely deal with PR, journalism, artist management and all dem ting deh, but if that is what you wanna do, for goodness sake, please to know what the hell yu doing before yu start. Don’t plagiarize people tings. YOU HAVE TO BE ORIGINAL.

And another ratid ting. STOP TIEF MY DAMN PHOTOS. Mi seh…mi Super Cat and Shabba photos have appeared on more sites than I can count. No credit to me. A wha kinda people dem yah man???

Let me say this. Everyone is free to do with their lives as they see fit. HOWEVER…if you are an alcoholic, the liquor store job may not be right for you. If you are a blasted groupie…this PR, journalism, artist ting a nuh fi yu neither. You have to love this from the heart. You have to be willing to work for the love and betterment of the genre. No strings.

I have invested nuff nuff time in this industry. I love my culture an have elevated many with that love. I never slept my way into this ting here…I never skin teeth with no artist for any interviews. I am respected and loved, hated and revered all at once. I love it. Nuh badda try get me out a da game yah. The more yu try a di harder mi guh. Get your vision insurance up to, cause the dust behind mi going blind unnu claat. A me unnu a try offa??? A di wrong person. Memba dat!

So back to the scripture up top. I have to toot my own horn, all the while giving praise and thanks to The Most High for inspiration. I am humble, and me defending myself is different from me exalting myself.

I really don’t care what any human think of me eno, humans get on my last nerves more while anyway. Too wicked some a unnu. I have to talk up and defend me and mines at all times. If dem people deh who a watch and hate, peep and pree did know what a come…dem woulda watch and pray instead a try pree me. Unnu tink mi did done? Mi jus a come!

Italis – 1/2 Dozen Questions

Italis - 1/2 Dozen Questions

He’s been on the scene for many years. Some think he is ‘new’ to the business, but that’s so far from the facts.

He has recorded with, and for, some of the best in the industry. The late great reggae veteran Junior Mervin, brought Italis to Studio One’s own, Coxzone Dodd when he was fifteen years old. In order to grab the attention of someone like Coxzone Dodd, (Google him), you have to possess something extremely special.

He has recorded for producers such as the world famous Jon Baker (Geejam Studios), Alborosie, Tony Kelly, Danny Champagne, Shaggy and many more. He has collaborated with Wyclef Jean, R&B’s Mario, Germany’s Zoe, Dre Zee, Shaki and Sizzla Kolongi.

Many know him today as Italis, but this artist has also recorded under the monikers, Buju Kid as well as his given name, Patrick Anthony. Currently working with Til Shilo Music, Italis took time out to answer my ‘1/2 Dozen Questions’ today.
Check it!

A. I was born this way fyah. From I know myself I have had this voice, this sound. My parents used to tell I to keep quiet, cause my voice a shake the place. I give all respect to Buju Banton, but I imitate no one. I sound this way because I was born with this sound. No imitation to mi ting. Buju a mi DJ. Im ratings up deh! You can never stop people from saying what they want to say though.
